Treatment and health problems caused by bruising

Bruising clinically presents as pinpoint red-purple, clear edges and stretch variable (depending on the size of the traumatic agent). Bruises are bruises superficial damage incurred by small vessels just below the skin and by extravasation of blood into the space around them.An untreated bruising resolves spontaneously in about 3 weeks, going through several stages of resorption of the clot, which is observed by the skin color changes: it goes from red to violet-blue, and blue-green and finally yellow-green bruise then disappeared completely.

Treatment
Bruising is not a specific treatment, but there are some steps which, if taken promptly after the assault, may reduce the discomfort caused by the bruise itself. This indicated:

  • Local application of cold compresses or ice packs (frozen food even if they are just out of reach) for 20 to 30 minutes, in order to reduce the swelling and relieve pain area, not ice pack should be applied directly to the skin, it is recommended to interpose a towel in contact with the skin, care must be taken also not to exceed the maximum recommended 30 minutes local refrigeration can be done several times during the day, if they meet breaks of several hours between applications
  • If the location has extensive bruising of the lower limbs (thigh, calf) must remain high for a longer period of time, especially in the first 24 hours of injury
  • As painkillers are indicate ibuprofen
  • After 48 hours, the area may apply hot water compresses, are maintained for 10 minutes and you can make 2-3 times a day, they favoring blood flow in the region and thus accelerate wound healing.

Caution!
Not recommended because aspirin or antiplatelet effect (shown at doses that exerts analgesic effects), it prolong bleeding time.
